The Washerwoman

£25.00£40.00

This lady’s husband has passed away, she is left to earn herself a living — (no state pension then). She lets it be known she will do laundry work. Others bring things to be washed, which she undertakes. She has a mangle to squeeze water from the laundry and hangs it up to dry, and in some cases even irons it. Customers then come and collect their laundry and are charged accordingly
